Welcome to the Louisville Running Company

Well, it’s finally here. Years in the making, and it’s now time to introduce the world to the Louisville Running Company.

For most of my childhood, I would tell my parents how I couldn’t wait to leave this city and go somewhere bigger, somewhere better. I managed to get away for college at Georgetown College, followed by a year on a Fulbright Grant in Spain. But as a graduate assistantship at the Univ. of Louisville popped up, followed immediately by Louisville-based job opportunities, I returned back to the very place I spent so long trying to leave. Here we are, in my 30’s, and proud to call Louisville home. Louisville truly has the best of both worlds, a small city with big city opportunities. There are less than two degrees of separation between everyone (for better or worse), so it’s very easy to make connections professionally and personally. The food is amazing, with quality restaurant offerings for just about every cuisine (as a donut and sweets fanatic, I must say our donut options are super strong). While our airport may be lacking the direct flights of other major markets, its easy access makes national travel smooth. My friends, my family, and my amazing support system here have convinced me to call Louisville home for now and well into the future.

Another trait attracting me to Louisville is our strong running community. No matter the weekend, there’s no shortage of races in which to compete. There’s no shortage of running groups to join for a weekend long run. There’s no shortage of parks or paths to explore. Even if you’re running solo, you’re bound to pass friendly faces providing encouragement and camaraderie as you run. Rarely does a hello to a fellow runner or walker go unacknowledged. It’s unlike anything you’ll experience anywhere else, and a key reason I love this city.

While Louisville has a lot of great aspects to love, one major thing it’s lacking is a voice that is dedicated to advancing the Louisville running community. We have amazing runners, walkers, and races here in Louisville. What we need is an organization to pull it all together. And that’s where Louisville Running Company comes in. LRC was created to bring the Louisville running world together, to make our running scene bigger and better. In the beginning, we’ll be partnering with existing races to provide race management and operations support. As we continue to grow, we’ll be creating our own LRC races and diversify the offerings to the local running community (i.e. training plans, personalized coaching, and free running events). Outside of the Louisville community, we’ll continue to provide contracted race support at races across the country.

Running Crew

The logo is simple, a silhouette of a runner (for those who have run with me, it’s pretty easy to spot that it’s me in the silhouette) and the company name. We want to keep the focus on you, the runner (or walker—LRC is here for people of all ages, paces, and abilities). Throughout the process of growing LRC, we’re open to your ideas, suggestions, and input. We want the company’s growth to spur growth in our local running community.

LRC is open and ready for business. Come run (or walk) with us!
